February 2025 recap

I just wanna say that SpeeDons is going on right now! As I said in the last post, you can watch it on mistermv's channel (french) or on Gamesdonequick's (english).

Movie

Conclave (2024)

Such a good fucking movie, with a stacked cast (there wasn't one character I didn't like) and great cinematography! Ralph Fiennes was incredible in his role, and watching his emotions throughout the movie was amazing. Isabella Rossellini's character was awesome. The music was perfectly weaved into the movie, adding to the tension in some scenes and I loved it being absent where it wasn't needed. Overall I had a great time watching Conclave.
Little bit of spoiler, but I did have a couple of really small reservations about the plot itself like the attacks subplot that seemed a bit too convenient for Tedesco to rant about, and the end made me feel like the scenario was a bit too disney-like, if I may say, but it does make a great point. Still really fucking good tho, and I know I'll watch it again in the far future.
Stanley Tucci is a total babe and I love him so much

The Fast and the furious (2001)

I was just too tired that week-end to watch something with substance so I decided this one would do. And it did! It's a stupid movie with a really bad yellow filter, full of conversations entirely filled with one-liners and pretty cool action shots, and it somehow still works pretty well in the end. It's an okay action vroom vroom movie for what it is.

The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)

This was actually one of the first Bond movies I've seen as a kid, so it holds a special place in my heart. I did realize I forgot a lot about it though! Like the fact that Christopher Lee was in it and was phenomenal, or that one of the greatest car stunts of that time was accompanied with the most cartoon sound ever. I forgot how Nick Nack was such a cool character! What I didn't forget tho was the infamous third nipple plot, lol
It's a good Bond movie.
Also, I know I'll be sad when I'll see the last movie starring Desmond Wilkinson because I really love how he acts as Q.

Look Back (2024)

This was definitely a rollercoaster of a movie! I'm not gonna say much more about the plot, watching it blind is the best way to see that movie. I loved the art style, it definitely had an handmade feel, and it made me appreciate the story even more, as one of its main theme is art.
The main characters are interesting in their own way, even though I'm starting to have trouble enjoying characters like Fujino at first because standoffish characters like she was at the start of the movie is getting old for me. Kyomoto was adorable tho!
I realize I'm not saying much but it's one of those movies I just don't want to spoil, go watch it, it's a 1h movie.

Music

I have to say that all the brit pop listed in the 1001 Albums is slowly getting on my nerves, but props to that list for making me realize how some genres are definitely not my taste. Here are the few albums I really enjoyed this month:

Youtube

Jeffiot posted a 5h hour Disco Elysium video, I Don't Want To Be This Kind Of Animal Anymore, worth every second if you like following someone narrates their playthrough with anecdotes and actual analyses. (But please play the game beforehand if you haven't, it would be a waste not to. It is one of my favorite games and I often think about it, even now, years after I played it.)
