March 2025 recap

I've been awfully busy with work AND got sick at some point this last month and as a result, this recap will be a bit less wordy than usual!

Movie

2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

Not a schlock, but not that far from it, really. Like the last time with the first movie, I was too tired to watch something "serious", but I found myself getting bored more than once during this one. The banter between the guys was okay-ish, I guess, and some of the stunts were pretty cool, but that's about all that I thought was good.

All My Friends Hate Me (2021)

I enjoyed watching it, but I don't really know if I liked it, overall. I enjoyed the actors' work, the social anxiety aspect of it all, but I found the end kinda fell flat? The movie has a good pace though. But I feel like something is missing, even now after a few weeks watching it.
(Also, sure, there's a whole self centered problem with Pete but I wouldn't bother with friends like those either tbh. What a nightmare)

Starship Troopers (1997)

Had to watch that classic, now it's done! Had a good time with it. Still funny how people apparently didn't take it as a criticism of patriotism at first though. Like it's not subtle at all ahah
Yeah, I don't have much to say about it, it was good. Also, the way the movie shows people dying has kind of an honest feel to it? I liked that.

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)

Still on my James Bond marathon! This was pretty good.
A bit too many scenes to show James as the alpha around the beginning, but the naval battle in the last quarter of the story was pretty awesome. The villain was a bit lackluster, despite a few good lines, and was definitely overshadowed by Jaws. Triple X was ok, she looked quite useless here and there once she had to cooperate with Bond, though.
I especially loved how the movie showed quite a bunch of Q's inventions, and that car turned submarine was chef's kiss!

Music

I really enjoyed only two albums this month from the 1001 thing, Jazz Samba by Stan Getz and Thriller by Michael Jackson (which wasn't a discovery, I loved listening to this on my mother's vinyl disc player back in the day). Not a stellar month!
