October 2026 movie/music recap

Real quick post this time, I didn't watch that many movies this month (been really busy with work and therefore too tired to even want to watch stuff). It's also starting to get cold and with the lack of sun, the seasonal mini depression I can get sometimes is getting back, yay!

Movie

Society of the Snow (2023)

That was an incredible watch from start to finish. It's a great movie that showed the survival aspect really well, and overall it felt to me this was a really respectful way to tell the story of the passengers of that flight.
Really enjoyed the little moments of joy throughout the months, and the scene when the survivors starts cleaning themselves up after hearing they're getting rescued was great. On the other side, the snowfall scene was really brutal and I found it shows also really well how devastating that kind of event can be. The whole debacle of what you have to do to survive despite your morals throughout the movie was also really interesting; I had a little thought about it afterwards when I had dinner, which doesn't really happen with movies.

Sweet Smell of Success (1957)

This is a movie I'll have to watch again in some years, such a gem. The dialogue is so sharp! I loved Tony Curtis and Burt Lancaster and their toxic relationship so much. Lancaster has such a great, terrible, aura in this movie, it's perfect.
I don't have much to say, I loved watching this, it's just a 10/10 movie all the way.

On the Waterfront (1954)

Oh man I need to watch more of Lee J Cobb, the dude steals every scene he's in. Marlon Brando and Eva Marie Saint were great too, but the dude is so good. I liked Father Barry too.
Not gonna talk about the reason of this movie existing. This movie was a great watch with a solid, if simple, story with good pacing. Its characters are interesting, the composition of some shots were gorgeous. I really enjoyed watching it.
