Video games log 005 (A couple of games and Steam Next Fest)
Bit late of a post about the demos from Steam's Next Fest, but my week has been draining work-wise, whoops
What I finished
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
This is actually the fifth or sixth time I finished this game. I'm a fan of the first hour and have played this game on PS2 back in the days. Always fun to get back to it, the gameplay is still something I really enjoy!
Doronko Wanko
Pomeranian makes a big mess! Quick little free game were you control a dog and make a whole mess of your home. Definitely play it!
Ballionaire
Pachinko roguelike
Fun game! I did get a bit bored after a few hours, tho.
Steam Next Fest
I completely forgot about its winter edition, so I got surprised when I saw the banner on Steam. Downloaded quite a few demos :
9 Kings
A kingdom builder roguelike where you manage your troops with cards you can put on a limited terrain at your disposal, and fight waves of ennemies. Pretty cool! It looks like a nice game to do a quick run here and there.
FlowerBots
Idle clicker game, you manage flowers and harvest units, with a minimalist design. It's a pretty ok idle game.
Goodlands
I might sound a bit reductive but this game is basically Webfishing in terms of looks, but solo and about digging fossils. Pretty cool!
Is This Seat Taken?
Puzzle game about placing characters at the right place. Loved it! The visuals are great and the game shows the important informations in a pretty good and clever way. I'll definitely get it when it comes out!
Just a Little Purr Suit
A pretty casual puzzle game where you control a cat who hunt a bird. It's cute! I found it a bit rough around the edges (qwerty only, the menu could be better) but it's a good game if you're fan of movement-card based puzzle game.
Kabuto Park
Cute little game where you play as a kid catching bugs! It's lovely and would be a great little game to play as a child.
Maze Mice
Kind of a pacman roguelike with upgrade mechanics, you're a mouse avoiding cats in a maze, and everything move only when you do. Enjoyed it quite a lot!
Mudborne: Frog Management Sim
As the title say, you're taking care of frogs. This is a game by the devs of Apico, a similar game but with bees, that I like a lot (and need to finish). The pixel art is top notch!
Neongarten
City builder in a cyberpunk setting. You get a set of random buildings every round and have to choose one and make synergies, and at some point you get a new layer where you can put more buildings. It's not really my jam but it's pretty cool!
Snakeloop
A reverse snake puzzle game! Haven't played a lot of it but the idea of getting snakes to eat their tail is pretty good.
Sol Cesto
Dungeon crawler roguelite where you play with your luck to hopefully survive long enough. Every level is made of a 4x4 grid with a monster/chest/etc on each square. I played only with the first character so I don't know how much the gameplay change with another one, but the idea is that you select the row you want your character to land on, and they will randomly choose a square. It was a damn good demo and I can't wait to see the final result!
To be completely transparent, I've been following the dev working on this game for a while, and I love what he's doing with this. The art is unique and the mechanics are interesting.
Squeakross: Home Squeak Home
It's a mouse themed picross game, where you get items from the picture you make and can decorate rooms with them. And you get to customize your mouse. Cute!
The King is Watching
Medieval city builder/tower defense where your plots only generate resources if you watch them. The pixel art is really good and the mechanics are interesting!
